Pacers fight to the finish
The USC Aiken men’s basketball team was in high spirits for its game against Belmont Abbey on Wednesday evening, which went into overtime.
The Pacers won with a final score of 90-84 over the Crusaders. Both Faison Brock and Dhieu Deing had an impressive team-high of 19 points in the win. Brock also accounted for the best nine rebounds for the team.
Right behind was Xzavier Barmore who tallied 16 points and five assists in the 42 minutes of action.
Robert Hill garnered 13 points in the game with eight rebounds and a game-best five blocks along with three thefts.
Gus Rowland totaled 11 points, six assists, six boards and three steals to round out the doubles board.
Not to be outdone, Shaquan Jules scored eight points against the Crusaders.
Both teams went back-to-back netting scores while the players, coaches and fans cheered on their team while wondering who would come out on top.
With three seconds left in regulation, Belmont Abbey tied the contest and put the game into overtime.
The Pacers started the overtime with a 10-0 run, but the Crusaders pulled back with 34 seconds to go. Players Deing and Hill hit four straight free throws, winning the game with a final score of 90-84.
For the game, USCA outscored the visitors 42-32 in the paint while posting 29 points off the bench.
The Pacers canned 33-of-76 from the field with a percentage of 43.4 to include 10-of-27 from downtown (37.0 percent).
The Pacers will return to action on Monday, Nov. 25, when they play Paine at 7:30 p.m.
