Valentine's Day in 4 perspectives
Valentine’s Day is for celebrating love in many forms. Four members of the Pacer Times staff got together and wrote about their perspective on the holiday and how they will be spending it.
Despite being single, I have a ton of galantines that keep me company. A galantine is a platonic, or non-romantic, valentine. Last year, my galantine, Mathilde, got me a Starbucks gift card and a rose. Isn’t she the sweetest?
Being single on Valentine’s Day is truly what you make of it. My advice? Think about the things that make you happy and go do them! Treat yourself to a mani-pedi, take yourself out to lunch or meet up with other single friends to do something! Love doesn’t only require a boyfriend or girlfriend. The day of love can be shared with your family and closest friends too!
Think outside the box! Before you seek a day of romance, spend the day to appreciate the friends and family you have. Remember, there are many forms of love!
For me and my sweetgums, Valentine’s is a day where we get to be extra cheesy and mushy. It’s a chance to show each other that we are serious about each other.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to see each other this Valentine’s day. Thank goodness for Facetime, because we get to spend the day together without physically being together.
Also, I hope he’s ready for embarrassing photos of him being posted!
Valentine’s Day in a long-term relationship is fun! You should always try and spice things up.
Last Valentine’s Day I sent my guy a 5-sense gift. He got a small or medium sized gift for all his senses and he loved it.
Of course, we’ve been in a relationship for a while so if we don’t text each other happy Valentine’s Day at the crack of dawn, it’s okay. We know we care about each other.
My husband and I are constantly working around two busy schedules, trying to find time to keep up with housework, homework and each other. When you’re married, you often have a lot of obligations and life can be a little too scheduled sometimes.
Today, or whatever day you choose to celebrate on, throw that schedule out the window! Catch a movie, cook dinner together and enjoy each other’s company.
Tonight, my honeybun and I are going to see the new Taraji P. Henson movie. When we get home, I’ll be cooking French onion braised pork chops. After dinner, we’ll just hang out! We enjoy each other’s company so much and we truly are best friends.
If you’re married, use this day to remember how lucky you both are to have found each other. Put each other first today and recommit yourselves to each other. Marriage is not the end of a relationship. It’s the best part!
