September on Campus
Throughout the year there are different events held in an effort to bring the campus together. During the month of September, there are many exciting ones but here I have listed a couple of them. Make sure you stay involved on campus!
PUB Events:
- Karaoke Night: This PUB event will take place September 9th from 5 PM to 7 PM It’ll be an opportunity to show off your skills or just get out of your dorm with some friends! There will be fun prizes at the end awarded by an audience vote and the top three karaoke stars will get a gift.
- Sip & Paint: Easels and canvases are first come first serve! September 15th from 10 AM to 2 PM
ICE Events:
- “Say Their Name Project” This event will be hosted by Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. along with our very own Black Student Union and will be taking place on September 15th in Penland Room 106 from 7-8:30 PM. “This project allows participants to come out and raise awareness for the many lives that have been taken unjustly. The project will be conducted in different ways to reach the audience and to allow the names of those lost to never be forgotten.”
- Hispanic & Latino Heritage Movie Day: The showing will be “Finding Oscar”, a documentary about the search for justice in the devastating case of the Dos Erres Massacre in Guatemala. Taking place on September 29th at 12 pm in Penland 106 Other:
- Suicide Prevention Awareness Event: In honor of National Suicide Prevention Month. It will be taking place on September 7th from 11 AM-1 PM at The Counseling Center
Student-Led Events:
- Make-Up Challenge by C.U.R.L.S: “For all of our amazing & talented makeup artists out there, this is an opportunity to show off your techniques & advertise your work around campus. For my beautiful ladies out there, who loves to keep their makeup done & take pictures, you are more than welcome to sign up as a model & help these amazing makeup artists showcase their work.” The deadline to sign up for this challenge is September 9th at 5 PM and the event itself will be taking place on September 22nd FROM 6 PMto 8 PM in the SAC MEZZ. Tickets to get in are $2 and a raffle will be held with those same tickets.
- C.U.R.L.S. Fest: The members of C.U.R.L.S. are back and bringing the elementary school field day vibes back! There will be nostalgic activities like the water balloon toss, kickball, and sack races for anyone interested in attending. The cost is $3 to enter and will be taking place on September 10th from 1-4 PM on the intramural football field.
- Phi Mu’s Cards for Kids: Stop by and “Create a card for the Children's Hospital of Georgia on September 21st in the SAC Lobby Get Involved:
- C.U.R.L.S Interest Meetings for the month of September will be on September 15th and 29th at 5PM in B&E Room 144
- Volunteer! The 37th Annual Seed Stem Festival will need some help on September 30th and October 1st for 3 or more hours. The deadline to sign up is September 14th!
- Go Greek! Alpha Omicron Pi, Phi Mu, Zeta Tau Alpha registrations are open!
- Peer Body Project! Come out and talk to fellow women about topics like body positivity, and combating societal beauty standards. Wednesdays (14th, 21st, 28th, October 15th)
