Opinion: When Will it be Our Turn?
I’m sure everyone has seen the viral TikTok of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCA&T) announcing their homecoming performance lineup.
Now if you haven’t, I’m here to tell you who it is! In attendance they will be having: GloRilla, Nardo Wick, Chloe Bailey and Lil Baby.
Not saying at all that I’m not appreciative for the events that we do have on campus as of now, we don’t have the experience that many other colleges get to have. The excuse that some would give would be that since we aren’t a HBCU we don’t get guests that they may get but this doesn’t hold up because in October UofSC Columbia will be having their annual Cockstock and T-Pain will be there performing for the students.
While we may not be able to get big names like Lil Baby or Durk because, well let’s be realistic, I believe that we need something other than magicians who perform six acts and maybe 20 students show up to. I can almost promise that if the student body were given an opportunity like this there would be a great turn out.
So how should we go about getting it? Fundraising? Reaching out to artists on a serious note asking if they’d be willing?
When will it be our turn?
