Bye-Bye Writing Proficiency Portfolio
Coming into freshman year in the Fall of 2020 one of the first words of advice that I received was to make sure that I was properly prepared to submit the writing proficiency portfolio by the end of my undergrad career.
Of course, coming in this seemed like it would be the most draining, mind-bending experience because they had to be near perfect and approved by many before getting any approval or there was a class that needed to be taken. I personally opted for the class.
Students after Fall 2023 will not have to worry about this requirement. It was decided at the March 2022 Faculty Assembly meeting that the Writing Proficiency Portfolio would no longer be required and this current class will be the last to submit it. This means that classes like English 201 and other courses that fulfill the WI (Writing Intensive) requirement will be needed for nothing besides further English instruction.
The Fall 2022 deadline for the WPP is the Wednesday after Labor Day, 09/07/2022. If graduating Seniors miss the fall deadline, the spring deadline is the last Wednesday of January, 01/25/2023.
