Column: What you actually need to move in
I lived on campus my freshman year in Pacer Crossings, and because of this nightmare of a roommate I had, I decided I would just commute every day (despite living an hour away).
I did that for my sophomore and junior years. Since this is my senior year, I decided to come back (with a single room, of course) and give it another shot.
On my first go-around in the dorms, I brought so much unnecessary stuff.
Here’s what I’m actually bringing this time:
1. A quilt, sheets, a mattress topper (I’m pushing my two beds together).
2. Towels (Ollie’s; they’re much cheaper there), rags, a shower curtain, miscellaneous bathroom objects.
3. Clothes (5 t-shirts, 5 jeans, basically 5 of everything.
My freshman year I brought every jacket I owned. Who did I think I was?
4. School supplies/desk items
Don’t get crazy here, a couple of pens, pencils, notebooks and a calendar will be just fine.
5. Toiletries.
6. Cleaning supplies.
7. Kitchen supplies.
8. Decorations.
Trust me, I want to bring my collection of coffee mugs and every rain jacket I own, but moving in and out is not worth it!
Pack light and don’t overdo it.
