USC Aiken: A Community Dream @ 60

2021 marks the 60th anniversary of the University of South Carolina-Aiken, and the University has opened an exhibit inside the Gregg-Graniteville Library celebrating the school’s 60 years of achievement and excellence.

The exhibit, located in the Samuel H. Swint and William Gregg rooms, explores the rich history of the university from its humble beginnings as a two-year college beginning in 1961 in a winter colony mansion with a little under 200 students to the university it is today.

The showcase is filled with timelines, student and faculty life from 1961 to the present as well as events and relics from athletics and academic achievements from USCA’s past years. It also gives us a glimpse into a future campus for USCA, which will be home to the Advanced Manufacturing Center and the Cyber Security Department. “A Community Dream @ 60” is an enriching and educational experience for the students of USCA, or anyone who is simply interested in compelling community history.

The exhibit is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Gregg-Graniteville library.
