USC Aiken announces partnership with youth golfing program

USC Aiken announced a partnership with the First Tee of Aiken, a youth-serving international branch dedicated to forming character in children through golf. The university announced this new alliance in an official email communication on Friday, Jan. 18.

USCA notified students that recent activity on the Convocation Center side of the Robert M. Bell Parkway, close to Gregg Highway is the beginning of Phase one to create a practice area for USCA golf program.

This project was fully funded by private donations.

The email sent to students also announced that Phase one will include the construction of a driving range, nine holes, short game areas and outdoor programming green space.

It is unknown as to when Phase Two would start, but for now, the First Tee of Aiken will operate from a temporary building on the south end of the green space. Phase Two is also funded through donations for a facility equipped with a classroom, golfing locker rooms and meeting spaces for the university.

This will provide USC Aiken’s championship golf team a brand-new place to practice and open opportunities for a women’s golf team.
