USC Aiken Partners with SANS
USC Aiken has partnered with SANS Technical Institute to offer an undergraduate certificate in applied cybersecurity.
The partnership allows students in USCA’s cybersecurity major to receive accreditation through a 12-credit program throughout their junior and senior years. The estimated time to complete the program is 10-18 months. It has a cost of $17,875 and is completed over four courses, one of which is an elective with more specialization after completion of general classes. Students will also earn four professional GIAC certifications, which are important in working in a cybersecurity field. The program can be completed completely online in the same time frame.
In order to join the program, students must have completed 60 credits in the applied computer science major with a focus in cybersecurity. Students must also have a GPA of at least 2.5 overall, which 3.0 in their math and science courses. An application must then be submitted to SANS.edu, where students will take one class per semester until completion of the program. Students will also be able to waive some courses if they have already received certification for that class. The program also offers various forms of financial aid. More information on the program can be found here.
