Comic gives students honest, raunchy performance
Blessed AF, large and in charge stand-up comic, Ronnie Jordan, brought the house down with his 90-minute show in the Student Activities Center mezzanine on Feb. 17
Jordan, who was brought to campus by the Pacer Union Board, often used self-deprecating humor when speaking about his own size. He discussed how discreet everyone is about their early, remedial college coursework and shared his knowledge of a vast array of topics.
He covered topics like snacks, drinking, male and female sex organs, masturbation, erectile dysfunction, bowel movements, and fornication of many types.
He offered tips about dining while Walmart shopping, whether that means repeatedly grabbing a few grapes or sticking your fingers in a mayonnaise jar to make a quick sandwich.
Jordan shared an experience from the 20-stop college tour he had just completed, including Maine Maritime Academy. He half-playfully mentioned that the state of Maine contains no other black people.
After the show there, when was offered a VIP tour of the school’s seagoing training ship, he refused to get on board.
“Don’t you know that’s how black people got here in the first place?”
During the show, Jordan revealed some of his personal story. He’s from Atlanta and he’s been in the comedy business seventeen years. He’s been a man happily married for 15 years. He and his wife have two kids.
“You have to keep it nasty,” he recommended for keeping marriage fresh.
In addition to touring exhaustively on the stand-up circuit, he participates in a plethora of money making activities in the entertainment industry. He is a gifted writer and actor for television, along with being an entrepreneur.
Jordan created a clothing line, which is available on his website. Throughout the show he modeled his pink, “Blessed AF” single hole ski mask, warning that it may not offer enough protection to keep you safe from the coronavirus.
After the show, he kindly took time to meet with students, which made it clear that while Jordan's humor is a little on the salty side, he does appear to be very much "blessed and fun."
