Column: Anti-talent or anti-announcement?

USC Aiken's "Anti-talent" possibly met antimatter because it disappeared with no public notification. 

Of the 35 students gathered outside the Mezzanine Tuesday night, some were commuters wasting precious fuels to experience nothing but locked doors. 

With no sign posted, no person standing at the door saying "sorry, no show today, folks!" and no Student News email announcement, the crowd gave up waiting and moved on.

When asked about the absence of "anti-talent," the information desk attendant, Nicholas Mitchell, explained that the event was organized by the Student Life office. A passing student noted that not enough non-talent signed up to put on the show. 

When asked why there was no cancellation notice of any kind, Assistant Director of Student Life, Christian Medders, apologized.

"We came up with something else to do at seven," he noted politely.

I wondered to myself how the 7 o’clock movie trivia option was announced. Perhaps campus leaders should consider developing a smartphone app for campus events, which would allow them to automatically send notifications to students about canceled events.
