Weekly Briefing: An update from the hallow-queen

As October draws to a close, the weather is cooling down and assignments are piling up. Take a few minutes to check out this week’s issue before jumping back into the pile of papers you have to write.

This is our Halloween issue, so there are a few spooky-themed articles available. Lifestyle Editor Brianna Richbourg went to town in her section this week, creating a list of top Halloween candies, budget costumes and horror-scopes. She also wrote a column about cultural appropriation and Halloween costumes.

Arts and Entertainment Editor Emma Watts covered the Aiken Symphony Orchestra’s “Hogwarts in Aiken” concert, while I wrote a review of the show. She also covered last week’s drag show by the Diversity Initiatives.

News Editor Noelle Kriegel previewed a new interdisciplinary class being added this spring, the “Three Things You Don’t Know About USC Aiken” event and a leadership workshop on difficult conversations, among other upcoming programs.

Finally, our Copy Editor wrote a column expressing her distrust in a statement recently made by university officials about the amount of cameras on campus. She said she believes that if there are actually 142 cameras, then UPD needs to start utilizing them.
