FLO’s New Single “Fly Girl” Review

FLO’s New Single “Fly Girl” Review

The so-called “Next Destiny’s Child” FLO released their new single featuring famous rapper Missy Elliott.

The British trio Renee Downer, Stella Quaresma and Jorja Douglas brought back the vibe of old school R&B in their new single. FLO released their single last Thursday on March 23. Not to mention adding one of the blueprints of old-school R&B and hip hop the iconic Missy Elliott.

The song is made to be uplifting and powerful for women specifically. The title is “Fly Girl”. It's meant to make you feel confident and like a boss without needing a man for anything. The song is like old-school meets new-school or old-school R&B meets modern-day R&B.

The intro features a sample of Missy Elliott’s hit “Work It”. Also, FLO sampled lyrics from Missy Elliott in their chorus: “If you’re a fly girl, get your nails, get a pedicure, get your hair did,” the group sings.

Even Missy Elliott revisited some of her hit lyrics “Work It” rapping “Don’t I still look like Halle Berry in the face?”.

This is FLO's first single of the year and I'm pretty sure there’s more to come. FLO first began in 2022 when they released their first EP called The Lead with their hit song “Cardboard Box” beginning their popularity in the music industry.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a modern day old R&B girl group FLO is definitely that and this is only the beginning for them.
