USC Aiken has a new Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Communications
Christen Engel was recently named Vice Chancellor for Communications and Marketing and Chief of Staff at USC Aiken. Engel assumed her duties on Feb. 1.
She previously worked at Augusta University and Augusta University Health as vice president of communications and marketing. Engel comes to USC Aiken with a passion for improving the school brand and developing local partnerships.
In her new role, Engel plans to further extend USC Aiken’s brand into the community and encourage the town to further adopt the school as their hometown university. She hopes these efforts will lead to partnerships with local businesses and encourage more student involvement and networking within the town.
“What our students really want is employment opportunities and businesses want workforce development and they want graduates that are ready to hit the ground running…In our mission to serve students and our community – that is really where we need to be.” -Engel
Engel plans to foster relationships with local businesses to further understand what they need and want in new graduates. With her experience in both public relations and marketing, Engel understands both aspects of the job and how the specialties can work together to further establish USC Aiken’s place within the community.
Engel earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from USC Aiken and a master’s in higher education administration from Georgia Southern University.
“As an alum of USC Aiken, coming back here is a dream job for me…USC Aiken helped me find what I was good at and moved me in the right direction.”
