USC Aiken is searching for a replacement

As a result of Dr. Sandra Jordan’s decision to step down as UofSC Aiken’s chancellor after the spring 2021 semester, the university is searching for a replacement. Nominations are to be directed to USCAchancellor@academicsearch.com. Include personal title (Dr., Mr., Ms.), full name, institution/employer, and email address.

UofSC Aiken announced that they are “working with Academic Search, with support from their senior consultants Virginia S. Horvath, Ph.D. and Kate V. Nolde … under the guidance of President Robert Caslen.”

The search committee is made up of the Chairman, Dr. Thomas Reid, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, and representatives of the staff, student body, the Inclusion Advisory Council, Alumni Council, Aiken County Commission of Higher Education, UofSC Aiken Partnership Board, and the UofSC Board of Trustees.

The search is divided into four parts: (1) the pre-search survey, due diligence, and preparing search documents, (2) recruitment, (3) assessment of candidates, and (4) finalist campus meetings. Currently, the search committee is in the midst of part one.

Both notice of meetings and the topics discussed during the meetings are available online. Students are encouraged to share their recommendations with the search committee by filling out this form.

The final decision will be made by UofSC President Robert Caslen. The new chancellor is expected to take office no later than July 1, 2021.
