APRIL FOOLS EDITION: Film “A Colt Following” will begin shooting on campus next month
“A Colt Following” is a film set to begin shooting on campus next month. It is a parody of cult documentaries.
The movie will follow a fictional cult composed of fans of a racehorse named Foxfire who mysteriously vanished on the way to Steeplechase as they search for answers and enlightenment, seeking ascension to a realm of horse trainers who are said to have mastered the art form over the course of hundreds of years.
Full casting has not yet been revealed but the cult leader is currently set to be played by Andy Samberg. A detective investigating the cult, who will also act as the narrator, will be played by Jennifer Love Hewitt.
“We picked USC Aiken as a filming location due to the horse statues around campus as well as the options for filming environments in a centralized location,” said director Trey Leer. “We understand that true crime and cult documentaries have become popular recently for larger studios but we wanted to take a different approach. We want the community to be involved so we are looking for students to assist on the production side, perhaps even internship-wise.”
The film, which is set to release a year from today (April 1, 2023) will be available on Netflix and HBO Max as well as the Swank film database that is free to students.
