Pacers finish fourth in Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate
The USC Aiken Pacers golf team, recently ranked second in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll, finished in fourth place out of 15 colleges on March 8, at the 25th annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate.
The Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate is a team and individual competition for men’s collegiate golf teams hosted by USC Aiken. The tournament invites colleges from Southeastern teams and is a 54-hole tournament. This year, the tournament took place through March 7-8 at the Palmetto Golf Club, a beautiful par-70 6,617-yard course.
The teams involved this year were USC Aiken, Charleston Southern University, Francis Marion University, Furman University, Gardner-Webb University, High Point University, Presbyterian College, Samford University, University of South Carolina (Columbia), Temple University, University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Tech and Wofford College.
Junior Leonardo Bono and rookie sophomore Oscar Abrahamsson led the Pacers under head coach Michael Carlisle’s team. They both shot two-over par, landing at 212.
Leo Johansson finished just a single stroke behind the two at 213, and he tied for 14th at the tournament.
The University of South Carolina took home first place in the tournament, followed by the University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University.
