Phi Mu's Philanthropy Week
The week of Oct. 3, 2022, was Phi Mu’s philanthropy week.
Their philanthropy is Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, specifically the Children’s Miracle of Georgia. In just three days, they were able to raise $4,846 through their day and night events, along with the CrowdChange account they created.
Their first-day event was “Motivational Monday”, where they gave out quotes to students to help motivate them. That night they had a Miracle Man Pageant, which was when they had students, boys and girls, compete for the crown of Mr. or Mrs. Miracle.
The second-day event was “Pie a Phi Mu,” where students and faculty members paid to pie the members in the face. That night they hosted a Spelling Bee for students to compete in.
On the last day, they did a 12-hour “Teeter Totter Sit-In.” This was when members of their chapter took turns sitting on a teeter-totter on the SAC patio to raise awareness for their cause.
Hannah Cleary, philanthropy chairwoman, said her favorite event was the Spelling Bee.
“We had such a great turn out and a lot of laughter was shared!” Cleary said.
