Etherredge Center adopts protocols to mitigate virus spread

The Etherredge Center on USC Aiken’s campus serves as the hub for the performing and visual arts students, making it a potential hotspot for COVID-19.

Music, theater and visual art classes are conducted in the Etherredge center, as well as rehearsals and individual practices.

With the virus being a large concern, the Etherredge Center has implemented new practices in order to reduce the possible spread.

Hand sanitizing dispensers have been placed in the hallways outside the classrooms as well as surface cleaning stations near the lounge for students to disinfect the area.

For music students that need to utilize the practice rooms for individual practice or individual private instruction, a schedule with specific times will be set up.

Each student is in charge of sanitizing the practice room they use afterward to avoid possibly spreading the virus.

The lounge has been spaced out, allowing for social distancing, and sanitation is encouraged after seating use.

Many of the performing arts such as instrumentalists and singers are required to take a symptom survey as well as a temperature check before entering a rehearsal space with more than two occupants.
