Operation Outreach supports students

Operation Outreach is a support system that is exclusively for USC Aiken students, to assist with any issues that may occur during the pandemic.

Dr. Sandra Jordan, the chief proponent behind the operation, appointed Staff Assembly Chair Carmen Willliams to lead the project.

“This was a campus-wide effort to personally connect with each student, to let them know that we are thinking of them and to learn of any issues or concerns they may be having with remote learning,” Williams stated in an email interview.

So far, only the freshmen have been contacted and students have been excited to hear from the faculty, staff and fellow students, according to Williams.

“We’ve received several responses stating how happy they were to know that we are still thinking of them,” she wrote.

Williams did state that they “do have some plans for future outreach to the upperclassmen at USC Aiken.”

Since Operation Outreach has been in effect, many connections have been made between students and department individuals that are sometimes difficult to get in touch with.

Operation Outreach will be available until the end of the semester. When students are allowed back on campus, they believe that “it is a great idea for students to hear from someone outside of their department, just to check in and make sure that they are doing well.”
