Column: Is posting old graduation pictures helping or hurting?
Graduations have been canceled nationwide and people have been trying to find ways to help the class of 2020 cope with the loss of their ceremony.
The #classof2020 Facebook challenge “is to show support for this year's graduates who are missing out on the final weeks of their senior year because of the coronavirus,” according to Mark Heim.
The intent behind the challenge is harmless, but I don’t believe that it is helping the majority of the 2020 class.
The class of 2020 wants to have their own graduation ceremony, party and milestones. They don’t want to open up their social media and look at pictures from other people getting what they rightfully deserve.
If you would like to pay homage to your class of 2020 friends and family members, post one of their graduation pictures and write something nice to them or about them.
Send them well-wishes and praises for their great accomplishments.
Instead of reliving your own moments, share something of theirs to let them know they are being thought of.
