How to stay relaxed during quarantine

How to stay relaxed during quarantine

“Coronavirus.”

“Pandemic.”

“Quarantine.”

“Schools closed indefinitely.”

“Stay inside.”

“Social distancing.”

“Six feet apart.”

All of the above phrases and words are things we have heard a lot of the past few weeks. No matter what platform you look up, those words seem to be there, and it’s getting really hard to stay relaxed, and on top of that, you’re most likely stuck inside most of the time.

Everyone has different things that relax them. Be that playing video games, scrolling through Instagram, watching movies or sleeping extra. If any of those work for you, then good! But if you are looking for something else to relax you, try one of these:

  1. Take a walk. You don’t need to stay inside the entire time, so going for a walk, run or bike ride around your neighborhood is still possible.

  2. If you can, go for a drive. You don’t necessarily need to “go” anywhere. Just get into your car and drive nearby.

  3. Read a book. A great way to relax and forget about your problems is to pick up a good book.

  4. Learn a new recipe. Try making something new in the kitchen.

  5. Reorganize your house. If you have wanted to do this for a while and just haven’t had the time, now is your chance!

  6. Take a bubble bath. Add some bath salts or a bath bomb, flower petals, milk, whatever floats your boat.

  7. Have a home spa. Give yourself a facial. Paint your nails.

For people that like social gatherings and love being around a lot of people, it’s even harder to relax while alone, so take a look at these ideas:

  1. Do a group chat with your friends! You don’t necessarily need to be face to face with your friends to talk to them, but you can with zoom or google hangouts.

  2. Have a Netflix party! Invite your friends to watch a movie or a show with you.

  3. If you know your neighbors, or have friends in your neighborhood, have a distance party. This one may seem funny, but if you need to talk to people face to face, have your friends bring a lawn chair and drinks for themselves and sit 6 feet away from each other.

No matter what you decide to do to relax, just make sure you do. Stay safe and healthy and do your classwork.
