Quarantine Dash: Mug recipes to energize your social distancing practice
Add some flavor to your quarantine routine — and ditch the snacks — with these simple recipes.
Recipe 1: Oreo Mug Cake
I found this on TikTok and it is perfect for a late-night snack because of how fast and quick it is to make the cake.
Tools and ingredients:
microwave safe mug
fork
4 Oreos
a few spoonfuls of milk
First, pick a mug you are certain is safe to use in a microwave.
Then put 4 Oreos in the mug and use a fork to mash them up until the mixture is crumbly. Then, add a small splash of milk and resume mixing it up until it has a cake batter texture. Next, put the mug in the microwave for a minute to cook. Let it cool for one minute and then enjoy your Oreo cake!.
Recipe 2: Elbow Macaroni
If you’re like me, you like to stay up late watching Netflix or HULU. Most of the time I get hungry. I’m usually too lazy to make “real” food because it takes too long — good thing. I found the perfect recipe for us. This one only takes a few minutes!
Tools and Ingredients:
microwaveable mug
a fork
pasta (1/2 cup)
water (1/2 cup)
milk (3 tbsp)
shredded cheddar cheese (1/4 cup)
salt and pepper to taste
First, put the pasta into mug, then add ½ cup of water. Microwave it for 2-3 minutes.
Then, take it out. Add 3 tbsp of milk and ¼ cup of cheddar cheese with a little bit of pepper on top.
Return to the microwave it for 30 seconds. Enjoy!
Recipe 3: Mug Omelet
During quarantine, the fastest and easiest meal to make is with eggs.
What if I told you there is a faster way to make them?
Tools and Ingredients:
microwaveable mug
fork
2 eggs
your favorite omelet vegetables
spices to taste
First, mix up two eggs with your fork in the mug. Then, add your favorite chopped vegetables (mushrooms and bell peppers are great additions!) and spices. Mix thoroughly before placing into the microwave for two minutes or until fluffy!
Voila! Easy omelet and no plates to wash!
