Etherredge hosts senior art exhibit

On April 12 the Etherredge Center hosted USCA’s Department of Visual and Preforming Arts Senior Exhibit.

According to the Etherredge Center’s Facebook page, the exhibit included seniors Destiny Dye, Jordan Fraser, Isabelle Holland, Carolyn Padgett, Hannah R. Coleman and Myesha Howard.

Isabelle Holland, a graduating senior, is planning to go into Real Estate and grow her own art-based business over time. She plans to use her art degree in business and believes it sets her apart from other in marketing and advertising.

As someone who is not inspired by one thing, but more so the ability to create, Holland advised those who want to become artists to always be themselves and try not to imitate others.

“The things that some people will love the most is the things that you created out of bravery,” she said.

Senior Jordan Fraser plans to attend graduate school, so that she can eventually become a cartoonist. Some of her favorite cartoons include “Steven Universe,” “SpongeBob,” “The Amazing World of Gumball” and “Hilda.”

She was inspired to create her featured pieces through her own daydreams and other things that she enjoys. Fraser stated that she wanted her art to make people happy, just as creating the pieces has made her happy. She said she advises anyone interested in becoming an artist to try everything and follow what brings happiness.

“Don’t limit yourself too soon,” advised Fraser, “because you’ll find something that trips your trigger.”

The student pieces will continue to be displayed until Thursday, May 2.
