Business symposium links USCA students, Aiken community

The USC Aiken school of business held their first business leadership symposium on Friday, February 7.

The theme was “Educating through Engagement: Our Aiken Alumni” and it was dedicated to the legacy of Professor Irene Rudnick, who was a loved and respected educator at USC Aiken. The symposium gave students the opportunity to network and learn from a variety of professionals that were once in their shoes.

Dr. Sanela Porca, a professor of economics and international business, said, “Our hope was for the Symposium to serve as an excellent platform for all community stakeholders to discuss and deliberate on the importance of higher education, innovative business ideas, and collaborative opportunities between the University and Aiken Community”.

Students were not only encouraged to work toward success, but they were also emboldened to be proud of the university and the community that surrounds it.

The symposium was held the week of homecoming to further recognize USCA Alumni.

The date for next year’s symposium is already set for February 6, 2020, and the theme will be “Educating through Engagement: Business Careers in the Digital Age.”

The USCA school of business is looking forward to collaborating with other USCA departments in future. They hope to continue to build a mutually beneficial relationship between the university and the Aiken Community.
