Leadership program provides post-graduate experiences
USC Aiken offers a unique academic and curricular experience that provides comprehensive “leadership and career training” that is built upon the principles of “citizenship, service, career preparation, and leadership,” according to Leadership USCA’s webpage.
This certificate program is co-curricular, meaning the pursuit of this program coincides with the normal coursework and credits college students gain.
The Leadership Program promises career-building skills and the building of “community leaders.”
The program also encourages students to apply if they desire to be set “apart from the rest!”
Suzanna LaMunion, the student coordinator for the program, shared her view on the experience and offerings of Leadership USCA.
“It has given me so many opportunities,” she wrote.
She briefly described the transitional period between high school and college and how the program aided this transition.
“The transition from high school to college can be tricky. You don’t truly know yourself yet, and you’re balancing on that fine line between kid and adult.”
LaMunion explains the significance of the first course offered by the program—Emerging Leaders—and how it benefited her personally.
“This first course proved to be a transformational stepping stone in my college career, helping me learn more about myself as an individual and a leader.”
Beyond co-curricular classes and experience, the program also regularly goes on trips related to its curriculum.
“The program has given me countless opportunities to travel to places like Boston, Washington D.C, New Orleans, and Disney. These trips have allowed me to learn from other like-minded student leaders from different perspectives and walks of life.”
She concluded that the program “has something different for everyone,” but that “this program can help them on their way to becoming their greatest selves.”
