Daya Talks: Dating (part 4)

Hey everyone! It’s your favorite girl with the best advice in the world. For the past three weeks we have been discussing modernized dating. I’ve heard all kinds of stories and opinions, some very interesting and others just plain hilarious! As much as I’d love to continue this conversation, the time has come to end this series. But if it’s any consolation, I’ll give you my final, honest opinion.

According to the photo, the last two stages cover dating exclusively and relationships. Dating is specified as “We are dating HOWEVER we have cut off all other people we’re interested in to focus on us to know each other better.” Relationships are specified as “We have made a mutual agreement to become a couple. It’s just YOU and ME…. POINT BLANK PERIOD.” I understand why the two are separate but personally, I feel like they are the same thing.

If I cut off all the other people I might be entertaining and you do the same, then to me, we are in a relationship. However, asking or being asked to be someone’s significant other versus just assuming you are together means something as well. Some girls might say it doesn't matter if they get asked or not but it doesn't hurt. Asking means you want them to play that role in your life versus just the thought of ‘well, I’m not dealing with anyone else at the moment so you can be my number one’.

Here’s my honest opinion on dating… It’s complicated. No one ever shows you how to do it and it’s different for every single person! There’s no right or wrong way and honestly, I couldn't tell you how to do it “correctly” if I tried my hardest. So how about this? I’ll give every reader a challenge. Let’s date who we want, how we want, how much we want and just focus on what we personally have going on instead of wondering what everyone else thinks. With two, communicating and honest people, I’d bet that you just might find the happiness you’re searching for.
