IMPACT event showcases volunteer opportunities for students

IMPACT’s Volunteer Fair provided an opportunity for students to learn about different organizations on campus and in the local area. 

The ICE event featured groups such as the Boys & Girls Club and ACTS. Each group presented for about three minutes, allowing students to hear all the volunteer options.

Assistant Director of Student Life, Kevin Nolan said that this is the time for organizations to demonstrate “who they are and how they impact.”

Daneshka Padro-Perez and Adrielle Cooper, the student coordinators of the event, said they hope to attract more students and allow all the organizations to be heard.

Community service is voluntary work intended to help people in a particular area. Community service can be performed anywhere by anyone. Nolan stated that they “basically are reaching out to students interested in volunteering.”

At USC Aiken, IMPACT encourages partnerships oriented toward community service with organizations like Helping Hands, the Salvation Army and The Boys and Girls Club. These service projects are offered throughout the semester.
