With the changing leaves, cooling weather, and shorter days also comes runny noses, sneezing, and coughing. This only means one thing: Flu Season is here.

Flu season is an annual time characterized by the prevalence of outbreaks of influenza. It normally occurs during the cold half of the year but can last until May. There are usually peaks in activity in the months of October and November.

Though flu season is a worrisome time, there are ways to avoid it. A simple flu shot is the answer. The Student Health Center gives out free flu shots to students if they request it. If a student is not able to do that there, CVS, Walgreen’s, and Walmart are available as well.
