Are Tattoos Professional?
In my opinion, tattoos are professional. Tattoos are a permanent piece of art that helps people express things that they enjoy. It is a way of self-expression in the same way that clothing, hair and makeup can be for people.
Tattoos do not determine an individual’s self-worth or their knowledge. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, nurses and so many other professional individuals have tattoos. This does not make them any less qualified for their jobs.
Older generations can have negative stigmas towards tattoos, but the world is changing. Many workplaces are allowing tattoos to be visible now as long as they are professional.
I never thought I would experience any discrimination against my tattoos, considering they are all nature-based and not offensive in any way. Being a server at a casual- fine dining restaurant I am allowed to have my tattoos out. My co-workers and I were given a negative review due to our tattoos being visible, stating that we looked sloppy.
Although people are entitled to their own views and opinions, there is no reason that a tattoo should change another’s view of you as a person.
