Restaurant Review: Neon Fig

Restaurant Review: Neon Fig

Neon Fig is located at 110 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801. This is right in downtown Aiken, so it is the perfect place to grab some food while exploring the local shops and bars!

Neon Fig’s menus is reasonably priced but can get a little expensive when getting multiple items or drinks. Appetizers run from $6-14 and entrees are around $8-18.

The décor of this place is stunning, modern and clean. The outdoor seating is perfect for a nice brunch outdoors. The bar is large and clean and the dining room is also very spacious and beautifully decorated. Upon walking in there is also a “lounge area” that has some comfortable couches and chairs to either wait to be seated at, or to sit around and grab a few drinks.

The menu is full of unique combinations and fresh ingredients. Over their short time of being in Aiken, their menu has largely improved.

There is a creative cocktail menu as well! Check out the Spicy Bloody Mary; it has pickles, pickled okra, olives, habanero vodka and a spicy rim.

My Favorite Appetizers:

-        Beignets: These are fried dough balls with powdered sugar and fig jam. Absolutely delicious! The perfect mix of crunch, soft and sweet! These are a great starter or even dessert to finish with.

-        Smoked Trout Dip: This is a cold, creamy, refreshing and smokey dip that is served with pita and crackers.

-        Chili Hummus: This is my personal favorite. The hummus is made out of pinto beans and served with peppers, jalapenos, radishes, pico de gallo, corn tortillas and pita chips. The hummus being made with pinto beans is a fun way to change up a classic dish.

-        Loaded Breakfast Potatoes: This starter is great and full of flavor! It is served with a mix of potatoes and root vegetables, caramelized onions, hollandaise, bacon, scallions and if you are feeling crazy add on some brisket or pulled pork!

My Favorite Brunch Entrees:

-        Shaved Brisket Sandwich: This sandwich has sliced brisket, a three-cheese sauce, caramelized onions and sweet peppers. This has become one of my favorite sandwiches. It is so savory and creamy.

-        Grilled Fish Tacos: These tacos are made with grouper, pickled green tomato chow chow, red cabbage and spicy aioli. These tacos are delicious, flavorful and refreshing. The perfect choice for a hot summer day.

-        Hot Chicken & Waffles: This is made with sugar crystal waffles, crispy buffalo chicken breast, creamy garlic parm sauce and maple syrup. The balance between sweet, spicy and savory is delicious. This is a perfect option for indecisive people who cannot decide between sweet or savory for brunch.

-        Captain’s French Toast: This is such a creative spin on French toast. The French toast is made with Captain Crunch crusted challah, crunch berry dust, pastry cream, fresh berries and maple syrup. This is a fun fusion between cereal and French toast that is delicious. The berries create a nice balance for all of the sweetness.

Overall, I highly recommend checking out Neon Fig for a fresh, creative and delicious brunch!
