Spring Break Activities That Won't Break the Bank

Spring Break Activities That Won't Break the Bank

Most college students regard spring break week as the best week of the year, but with rising prices and small budgets, what’s a student to do?

Although most students like to think big when it comes to spring break, the benefits of a day trip should not be ignored. Aiken sits within four hours of some of the best day trip destinations.

For those yearning for a day at the beach, Isle of Palms is the perfect place. Grab some friends and hop in the car to head toward the coast. Pack a picnic lunch and split the price of gas to keep your costs low. To add some flavor to the day, splurge on dinner at one of the many local restaurants.  My personal recommendations are The Dockside or Luke ‘n Ollie’s Pizzeria.

If exploring a historic downtown is more your style, head to Charleston or down to Savannah. Each location boasts shopping, historical sites and amazing restaurants. Savannah even instituted an open container policy if you want to walk down River Street with your best friends and favorite drink.

If staying at home sounds appealing to you, have a movie weekend or host a charcuterie board party.

 A few binge-worthy movie series/movies to consider:

  •  Jaws

  • All the Marvel movies (if you can fit them into one week)

  • Harry Potter

  • Lord of the Rings

  • The Dark Knight Trilogy

  • Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984

  • Indiana Jones

  • Pirates of the Caribbean

  • Back to the Future

  • Any other comforting, nostalgic movies that you may love.

As for the charcuterie board party, a charcuterie party is where every guest brings a different charcuterie board that fits the theme – this is a fun twist on the usual charcuterie board that has become so popular.

Some charcuterie board themes to consider:

  • Favorite restaurant

  • Toxic traits

  • Career/ college degree

  • Personal aesthetic

  • Favorite superhero

  • Movie series

  • Musician (pick one artist and have each person bring a board based on their favorite album from the said artist)
