Dorm Dash: Tzatziki Greek Cucumber Yogurt Dip

Tzatziki is a yogurt-based cucumber sauce that is very popular. The traditional preparation combines strained salted sheep's or goat's milk yogurt with cucumbers, garlic, and herbs. However, modern ingredients will do for this dip. This is often served with warm bread or for a popular Greek dish known as Souvlaki(grilled pork).

INGREDIENTS:

● 3 tablespoons olive oil

● 1 tablespoon white vinegar

● 2 cloves garlic, finely minced

● 1/2 teaspoon salt

● 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

● 1 cup Greek yogurt, strained

● 1 cup sour cream

● 2 medium cucumbers, peeled, seeded, and diced

● 1 teaspoon chopped fresh dill, plus more for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS:

● Combine the olive oil, vinegar, garlic, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Combine all ingredients well.

● Using a whisk, combine the yogurt and sour cream in a separate bowl. To the yogurt mixture, add the olive oil mixture and mix well.

● Chop up the fresh dill and add the cucumbers. Before serving, chill for at least 2 hours and sprinkle fresh dill on top for the garnish.
