American Ballet Theatre rocked the Etherredge Center
USCA hosted the American Ballet Theatre Studio Company (ABT) last Thursday, April 7 in the Etherredge Center. The ABT is an esteemed company of 12 to 18 rising, talented dancers between the ages of 16 to 20.
The studio company recently had the privilege of touring internationally in cities such as St Petersburg and London, as well as multiple festival, museum, and university campus performances within the United States.
The ABT Studio Company dancers are notorious for their powerful routines. Their performing works featured classical and neoclassical canons as well as contemporary works. Choreographers from a variety of backgrounds are commissioned by the company to produce fresh and original pieces for the dancers every season. The dances ranged from group to solo dances in a variety of sets and aesthetics, giving each dance performed a unique and distinct style of character. Each dancer was able to aimlessly fit within the style of music they were performing, from classical and piano to contemporary and minimalist pieces. A continuity that the ABT effortlessly kept throughout the night was a range of fluid and weightless movements that were haunting and encapsulating, demonstrating an incredible passion for the art.
The ABT Studio’s performance in the Etherredge Center this past Thursday was absolutely spellbinding, giving lovers of ballet and those just looking for a good show an experience they will never forget!
