The Equality Clinic of Augusta provides invaluable resources to community
The Equality Clinic of Augusta is located at 1014 Moore Ave behind the Dunkin’ on Walton Way. The nonprofit consists of healthcare providers serving under- and un-insured LGBTQIA+ community members and their allies in the CSRA. It has been helping these communities for the past six years.
Services available at the Equality Clinic include primary care services for uninsured patients, gender transitioning support, rapid HIV screening, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV-1 prevention, blood work, clinical pathology tests, oral health screenings, and mental health support. The Equality Clinic’s close partnership with Augusta University makes some of these services a reality for those who need them.
Services rendered at the Equality Clinic are free. The only thing that cannot be distributed for free is prescription medication, but the medical practitioners at the clinic are mindful of the patients they serve, building a community aside from the suffocating grasp of pharmaceutical pressures.
You’re eligible if you meet one of the following criteria: (1) you don’t have insurance, (2) your insurance doesn’t cover what you need, or (3) you are below 200% of the poverty level.
The clinic is open every second and fourth Wednesday, excluding holidays, starting at 5:30 p.m. The next open clinic will be Oct. 13.
