Game Review: Home sweet Hellfire, "Hades" now available on multiple platforms

Hellfire, darkness and misery. Sounds like home sweet home to the son of Hades.

Hades was developed by Supergiant Games and was released September 2020 for Microsoft Windows, macOS and Nintendo Switch. The game is now also available on PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

The game is laced with Greek mythology and begins in the deepest part of the Underworld, the domain of the Greek deity Hades. The game is played in an isometric view, where the player is controlling the character, the son of Hades, Zagreus.

The goal of the game is to get through all seven levels of the Underworld to get to Olympus and the other Greek deities. Sounds simple, right? Wrong. Hades is against his son joining the other deities on Olympus, so he sends the monsters that reside in the Underworld to block your path.

Each level of the Underworld is more difficult than the last, and when you die, you automatically restart from the very beginning, the house of Hades. Through the game, other deities send gifts, which will help you get through the Underworld, but when you die, you lose all of the extra powers gained in that try.

Metacritic has this game rated at 93%.
