Album Review: Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) ∞
Finishing up our celebration of Women’s History Month, this week’s album review comes from a LatinAmerican woman that is currently taking the U.S. by storm.
“Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) ∞” (translates to “Without Fear (Of Love and Other Demons)”) is the second full-length album from Colombian-American singer and songwriter Kali Uchis. This album is her first album primarily in Spanish, and features elements of the Latin genres reggaeton and bolero, as well as her previously established R&B sound from her debut album, “Isolation”.
“Sin Miedo” follows Uchis’ life after her success from her debut album and covers topics such as self confidence, love and relationships.
Singles from this project, such as “¡aquí yo mando!” ft. Rico Nasty and “fue mejor -” ft. PARTYNEXTDOOR, helped Uchis establish the tracklist of “Sin Miedo” as one to be taken seriously.
However, perhaps the most attention-gathering track of the album is the track “telepatía”, which exploded in popularity on social media, and a big thanks can be given to TikTok.
Uchis’ smooth vocals and energy make this album a great listen for a relaxing day or a warm day’s drive with the windows down. Despite the language barrier it may present for some, this album deserves a listen just for its finesse and sensuality alone. With a rather short run-time of 34 minutes, this album is a great refresher from some of the chaos this time of the year presents.
Uchis’ debut album, “Isolation”, is another great listen if you’re a fan of “Sin Miedo”. Shown by great moments such as the track “After the Storm” - ft. Tyler the Creator and Bootsy Collins, both albums demonstrate Uchis’ immense talent and singing ability.
