USC Aiken students prepare for election, consider candidates

Many USC Aiken students are getting prepared for this year’s presidential election and are considering who to vote for.

Alexis Rohrer, a junior business major, is considering voting for Joe Biden.

Rohrer is hoping that the election will have a good outcome, she said “I hope that the government will have a higher regard for humanity and not just capitalism and that we start focusing on climate change and social injustice issues.”

Cameron Bedenbaugh, a senior industrial process engineering major, said that he will be voting for Donald Trump. Bedenbaugh wants a president who is resilient and patriotic.

“I want someone who won’t take anything from anyone,” he continued. “Someone who stands for our country.”

Also voting for Trump is Courtney King, a freshman who is majoring in computer science .

King is anticipating positive changes after this election, and he has high hopes that our country will see improvement.

“My hope is for a better economy and a unified nation,” King said.

Aisha Griffin, conversely, is voting for Joe Biden this year.

“Although he’s probably not the best candidate, we cannot have Donald Trump in office,” she expressed. “I hope that he will not be re-elected and that everyone will stand up and exercise their right to vote.”

Amber McCormick, a sophomore psychology major, wishes to keep her candidate of choice undisclosed.

“All I want is for everyone to be happy, honestly,” she said. “Right now tension is very high on campus.”

Election Day is on Tuesday, November 3.
