Pacers face UNC Pembroke in intense double-header

On Wednesday, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams faced UNC Pembroke in a nail-biting double-header.

First, the women faced off in a back and forth first quarter that ended with USCA down by just 3. The second half left nothing to the imagination, as both teams were in it to win it. The game ended with UNCP winning 72-68 after a last minute scoring streak.

The men’s team came out swinging, staying ahead of UNCP 10 points for the majority of the first half. However, UNCP came back with a major offensive sweep, making up for those lost points.

Toward the end of the game it turned into a clock grinding, defensive brawl where both teams weren’t allowing any points. They were tied 69-69 as the clock got down to 35 seconds. UNCP scored to make it 74-79 and didn’t give up any points, which gave the men a close loss at home.

The Pacers will return to action on Jan. 29 in their next game against Augusta University.
