Column: Dating on a budget

Valentines Day is right around the corner! For those in relationships, married, or trying to plan a Galentine’s Day, student budgets can really put a damper on big plans. The costs of a date can add up quickly, especially for those trying to save every penny. Here are some fun, budget-friendly dating ideas for your special someone that won’t break the bank:
- a romantic outdoor bonfire, weather permitting, (maybe even on the lake)! This one is simple, you just need some blankets, dinner and an area where fires are permitted. Everyone loves sitting around a fire during cool weather and let’s face it, is very most romantic.
- go stargazing! Again, weather permitting, this is a fun, romantic activity that can involve dinner and sweet memories outdoors!
- a drive-in movie! There are multiple drive-in theaters within an hour of Aiken and tickets are often under $10 per person. A double feature, cheaper popcorn, and an excuse to cuddle under the stars sounds pretty perfect, right?
- cook together! A fancy restaurant dinner for Valentines Day is nice, yet a bit overrated. Cooking at home together will be much more memorable, fun, not to mention romantic. This can be complete with movies, kitchen dancing, or game night.
- rock climbing! For anyone who wants to participate in a unique activity on Valentines Day, it is a fun, unforgettable, team work activity. The CSRA has more than one rock climbing facility!
- art museums! They are a fun, inexpensive date idea. The Morris Museum of Art and the Augusta History Museum are both located in downtown Augusta, about 25 minutes from USCA!
