Who run the world? C.U.R.L.S.
Among the many student organizations at USC Aiken is Confident Unique Regal Leading Society (C.U.R.L.S.), led by the organization’s president, Morgan Thornton.
“C.U.R.L.S is a student-run organization on campus that seeks to uplift both women and men who are either currently wearing their natural hair or transitioning back to their natural hair,” said Thornton, a biology and pre-med major.
She also noted that the organization set out to “create a safe environment for everyone” and that they welcome all students.
In addition to teaching people about their hair, C.U.R.L.S. spends a fair amount of time giving back to the community.
Last Monday, they hosted “Curl Talk,” which is a program that teaches young girls about their natural hair and beauty. The girls were asked to paint self-portraits in order to show them “just how beautiful they were with their own, natural hair.”
C.U.R.L.S meets bi-weekly on Wednesday’s at 5 p.m. in Penland 106. To apply to join, send an email to thorntm@usca.edu.
